In 2021, the King's Beach Steering Committee was formed to unite Lynn, Swampscott, and the State of Massachusetts toward finding a solution to clean up King's Beach. Their goal is to find a "parallel solution" to help minimize pollution flowing onto King's Beach via Stacey's Brook. They are currently examining and testing several solutions, including:
Feb 2025: advanced to pilot stage to take place summer 2025: Building a UV light treatment plant that would zap water and eliminate pathogens
Building an outfall extension that would bring pollution "off the beach"
Examining other new technologies, including oxidation treatment
Note: Treating water with paracetic acid was originally an option but the bench test study proved unsuccessful and that option was abandoned.
Despite many requests by Save King's Beach to meet monthly, the steering committee meets irregularly.
We believe that this committee would better serve our communities by meeting monthly.
If you believe that the steering committee should meet more regularly, we encourage you to email them:
